Finishes

"Faux finish" is a French translation meaning "false finish". Using various techniques of toning and shading, I can mimic the look of marble, wood, stone, etc. over almost any surface. With secret styles designed to fool the eye, I can transform entire rooms into distinctive works of art. I have a repertoire of faux finishes, some of which are described below.

Layered Sponging and Ragging

The most popular of all faux finishes are the ones that are done with two or more colors or intensities of color. The applications quickly create the illusion of modeling depth.

Faux Marble

Another faux finish is the reproduction of stone products. Under the category, I recreate marble with the use of color variations to typify the various marble types i.e. Norwegian, serpentine. Each reproduction depicts the mélange of various colors and trademark veins embedded deep in the marble.

Faux Granite

This type of reproduction is the type of stone most sculptors would use. Typically granite is black, gray and white, as an artist I use the color palette to recreate a wonderful assortment of beautiful granite surfaces to blend with the surrounding areas surfaces,

Wood

With the decrease of availability of some of the finer wood grains from various regions of the Old European World artisans were able to duplicate the inlays of various woods with painstaking detail. In Faux wood, expensive wood surfaces can be inexpensively copied, using transparent colors over a solid base color with the aid of a graining tool. The look of wood inlay or creating the illusion of wainscoting/chair rail over a flat or plaster wall are two examples of faux wood finishes.

Scenic Murals

My murals employ perspective, naturalism, and shading to create a three dimensional illusion. I can create larger rooms by opening up windows, or by adding window, gardens, etc. Opening up ceilings, and bringing the Caribbean to your rocky mountain home. Murals go well on an accent wall, in a hallway or on ceilings. The add interest to smaller rooms and come in all sizes and difficult levels. A faux finish will create that relaxed atmosphere while a mural will transform your environment into a dramatic setting.
