Rising from Durango, Colorado, BlackHoney has established itself as a solid six member band of unique design. Born from the primordial ooze from which all creativity seeps, it freely explores the musical boundaries of consciousness and genre.
BlackHoney's brand of Electro-Acoustic-Mountain-Soul-Funk, blends elements of rock, jazz, bluegrass, techno, reggae, funk, and hip hop. Their versatility, amplified by a multitude of instruments such as sax, flute, mandolin, bass, percussion, drums, and guitars, lends well to a performance rich in spontaneity and texture. These elements, carried by a passionate dedication to musical and professional growth, create the high energy shows that Durango has come to know as BlackHoney.
BlackHoney's performances are comprised mainly of original compositions that maintain a sharp, captivating edge. Drawing inspiration from bands like The Allman Brothers, Pink Floyd, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Grateful Dead, Propellerheads, and Miles Davis, to name a few, BlackHoney has formed a spirited, forceful sound.
Since the summer of 1998, BlackHoney has developed a solid following and lasting relationship with Durango's rapidly growing music scene. BlackHoney is ready to spread it's distinctive sound to new audiences who want to share in the experience of fresh, live mountain grown music. As with any promising band it's strength lies within it's live performances and seeing them live is the best way to appreciate their vision.
